Hello, after playing MM6 for a while and progressing quite far suddenly i couldn't move whenever flying was active. all i can do i use the fly upwards key but when i release it the game acts as if the fly downwards keys is pressed. arrow keys don't work, everything else does. since playing this game without flying is rather tedious and all my saves seem to be affected (even those before that bug happened so i guess it has something to do with the game) i will have to just scrap the game altogether if no solution is available since i have neither time nor patience to start anew. which would be a shame because it has been very enjoyable so far.
i hope somebody knows a solution to this.

thanks in advance
grindbert

edit: reinstalling did nothing

Sounds like you're out of spell points. Flying drains one spell point per 5 minutes (game time, so about 5–10 seconds). Can't stay up in the air without spell points, even though flying is enabled. Same goes for water walk.

Considering that condition is in the description of the spell, I wouldn't be surprised if you have already accounted for that. I only mention it because you didn't mention it, and it's a possibility.

Something else that comes to mind is turn-based mode. However, I would guess you aren't trying to travel in turn-based mode. It is possible, one step at a time, but it must be done at the right time of the turn in turn-based mode.

It sounds like your fly downwards key has somehow gotten stuck, or is registering constant input. I seem to recall that the vertical flight keys and the directional movement keys interfere with each other, which would explain the lack of response from the arrow keys.

Did you try restarting your computer?

Based on his description, neither of those are possibilities.

If you run out of spell points, then the Fly spell is instantly dispelled (same with Water Walk). There is no flying up, there is no flying down, just a (possibly long) fall to the ground.

Being in turn based mode wouldn't prevent flying vertically, only horizontally. Additionally, MM6 has no movement phase for the player in turn based mode; that wasn't implemented until MM7.

Initially MM6 didn't have a movement phase for the party in turn-based mode, only for the creatures. They continued to close in, but the party couldn't move at all. Later official updates added the ability for the party to move one step, either in the 1.1 or 1.2 patch.
