In MM3, if I hold down the mouse button, it repeatedly issues mouseclicks. This is a problem because the repeat rate is so fast that most of the time one mouse click registers as two or three mouse clicks which plays havoc with the menus and movement arrows in the game.

I've tried slowing down the cycles (ctl-F11) but this only partially alleviates the problem and makes the game very sluggish.

Does anyone else experience this issue? And if so is it something to do with the game code, or DosBox, or my PC hardware or software?

It's really annoying and any help would be appreciated.
I haven't seen this personally, but I wonder if it might have to do with fancy modern mouse drivers. What kind of mouse do you use? Does it have its own drivers from the manufacterer (as opposed to default Windows drivers)?
Yes, I have a Razer gaming mouse that has its own drivers. However, I also plugged in an older Microsoft Mouse that loaded default Windows drivers and it did the same thing (although I still had my Razer mouse plugged in too).

What is your mouse? That's interesting that it's not doing that for you.
After some searching on the net, I found a report tending to confirm that the mouse problem I described is native to the game.

(for some reason, this forum won't let me post a link??)

Does anyone have this game installed who can refute or confirm that holding down the left mouse button results in an auto-repeat of mouse clicks?

I actually haven't played MM3 yet. Sorry my wording was ambiguous, I just meant that I don't have any firsthand experience with the problem.

I haven't seen many other posts about this issue here, which makes me wonder if it's working for others. Anyone else have mouse issues in MM3?

EDIT: By the way, you said you tried lowering the cycles, but have you tried raising them instead? Worth a shot.

Re: lowering the cycles, I have raised and lowered them in a fine balancing act between the click issue and undue game speed.

Thanks for clarifying that you hadn't actually played the game, so no one has experienced the mouse NOT clicking repeatedly on a down-press. I did try MM4 just to see what happened there and the mouse behaved normally in that game. So I'm more inclined to agree with the reports I tried to cite that it's how the game was coded.

But would still like to hear from anyone who has played MM3, too.
I have some vague recollection about the mouse not working well in MM3, so I ended up using the keyboard exclusively. Using the keyboard should be faster anyway.
Yeah, the keyboard is a lot more precise and I use that mostly. But sometimes I want to use the mouse and it's then a little problematic. It's worst with the movement arrows, so I almost never use those.
