Perhaps I´m a bit stupid, but isn´t there a minimap in top right on the screen? Like it is in MM4 or MM5.
I have one character with cartography and I always read, that this is sufficient.

Already installed game several times and give more characters this ability, but nothing changed. Top right is always the grey MM-sign.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Please help me.

You have to click on the Map button.

It's the bottom left one. Looks like a couple of nodes. Left of the hourglass, below the kick.
In MM3, the minimap requires that the Wizard Eye spell be cast; there is no way to see your Cartography map there. You will need to pull up the full map if you want to see the map they made.

(The ability to see your Cartography map there is one interface improvement they made between MM3 and Xeen.)
Ah true, I forgot about that.

The map button shows map, that only shows visited areas with cartography skill.
The minimap top right needs Eagle Eye spell.

Hm bad...I loved this minimap in MM4 & MM5.

Nonetheless: Many Thanks to both of you!
There is a program called Where Are We? that, among other things, automaps Might & Magic games, including MM3. I had it running on my second monitor so I could always glance at the map. It’s also easier to read than the in-game map.
