The walkthroughs I have been reading seem to suggest that the cost of enchanting items in MM2 is 50sp +1 per level of enchantment, meaning I can enchant to +63 with a total of 113sp. However, when I try it in game it costs 50sp + 50 per level, meaning to reach +63 I would need a total of 3200sp

Was this patched at some point, or am I doing something wrong?

I am currently at lvl 47 with around 550 sp (int ca 200). Doesn't seem like I can even reach a total of 3200sp at all.

Can anyone advise?

The walkthroughs are likely based on other versions like the Sega Genesis version.

In the DOS version, which is the version on this site, the cost is 50sp per bonus on the item, so you aren't doing any thing wrong. (Note that enchanting an item from no bonus to +1 costs no sp but still costs gems.)

In other words, you aren't doing anything wrong; the versions are just different.

It looks like reaching 3200 SP might be barely possible, if you are level 255 and have 255 INT. However, be aware that raising a Neutral only item to +63 will make the item cursed, and Uncurse Item will not fix that (that spell doesn't do what it is supposed to).

Thanks for the reply, good to know.

Re: total SP, I noticed something weird which I can't yet explain. Right after I level up my Sorcerer, his max SP always lowers by several hundred, but as soon as I rest it goes up to the full SP for that level. Not a problem really, just weird.
I could be wrong but to me it sounds like after training the game has some sort of fatigue debuff until you rest. you should see next time if it lower the stats on any of your other heroes. if so that's probably it.
