Hello there. I trying play the Secret of Inner Sanctum, but I think : this is very rusty; Same with the "Where are we" mod.
I'm tryiied the nes version, but I think the map muindi is very complicated to understand.
Then, I tried mac version - I thinked that version is very good, even being in black and white - '--' but it's hard to me draw maps, my maps always be very bad.
Someone know a good mod to the msdos version? Just to be better a little (except for where are we mod).
I didn't even know there were any mods for the early MM games. I think it's the only one, and if not, you'll probably have to search for it yourself since it seems most people don't know about them (like I didn't).

What more do you want that the where we are mod doesn't have? If that isn't enough for you (it maps the game for you in addition to other things), and you don't get the snes maps, you're probably better off playing one of the later games in the series.

I can play the series from the second game O__o '--' \o/ but the one, like I said, is very rusty to me. And I still think in play the first because I like the story of crpg. But, I like to se the best version of the game, or if that is playable (I think the pc-engine is the best version from secret of the inner sanctum, but don't have english translation). (Example: With the two firsts Ultima I'm playing the FM-TOWNS version).
The only "mod" i know of for MM1 is actually just a fan patch to fix speed issues on modern machines. But I found it very useful. It's available here:

(Note that MM1 is the only game in the series with this particular speed issue)

There are also some tools available to help players draw their own maps, like Grid Cartographer. It's not free, and I haven't tried it myself, but I hear good things.
