Okay, this has caused some quite involved debate amongst my friends on Facebook, so I'm interested to hear if anyone has a concrete answer.

Might and Magic 1 on GoG: Is it running in EGA, or is it CGA using the composite colour bleed effect - as detailed here - emulated by DOSBox?

If it was EGA, I'd expect it to more colourful than it currently is. If it was CGA, I'd expect it to be uglier (indeed, the intro slideshow seems to be in 'pure CGA', for want of a better label). But the game itself, I'm kinda flummoxed on.

(I have to say, I've got a strong dislike for 'pure CGA' - not so much the quantity of colours as much as the fact that I find the palette choices kind of ugly - but I find MM1's graphics fine.)

GOG ships the game in EGA mode (it also supports CGA, Tandy and Hercules modes) which you can verify by manually running GRAPHSET.EXE in DOSBox.
Ah, thanks. A shame I was wrong, then! It really doesn't look like EGA to me.
