Hi,

I discovered yesterday that the file on Clouds of Xeen disk 2 has a virus.

Would anyone be willing to email the file Xeen.A01 to me?

Thank you,

Erwin

It's pretty unlikely for the original Clouds of Xeen floppy release to have used that naming scheme, nor that the contents would be writeable to be infected by a virus, nor that a virus would understand the installer's internal format to actually infect it. So I assume you've got your hands on a pirated copy. So it's a pretty ballsy move to come here of all places asking for support, given the complete 6 pack collection that includes it is is available here for only $10, and regularly goes for only a few dollars during the various sales.

The virus is located in the boot section of the diskette. The game is original. I picked it up on a garage sale about 15 years ago and it is in very good condition except for the virus. I guess I could try copying the file out of the diskette and put it on another clean diskette to be included with the original.

Checked the link you posted, and do not see Clouds of Xeen diskettes listed. I would buy it if it was there.

If that's the case, apologies for my suspicions. As for the 6 pack, it contains Magic 4&5: World of Xeen, which is the combined version of both Clouds of Xeen and Dark Side of Xeen. The two games combine together and give access to some extra quests spanning both game worlds. It includes both ehte floppy version of the games, which runs by default, as well as the CD Talkie version of the games, which you have to manually run from a separate shortcut or the "Extras" area for the game GOG Galaxy.

So you'll at least have an option to play the game, though it does come with it's own installer, so you wouldn't be able to get the data for a specific original floppy from it.
I actually still have some of the original floppies for Darkside of Xeen, but I couldn't locate my Clouds of Xeen floppy disks. They are probably buried in a box somewhere.

The next challenge would be finding a 3.5" drive to read it :)
