When trying to install Might and Magic VII through GOG Galaxy, I get an "installation failed" message every time. M&M VI and VIII install fine. I did notice someone in a thread from the last few days who already had the game installed said they kept seeing this error following a recent patch, so perhaps this has broken something?

I do not use Gog Galaxy but I get a different problem when trying to install this game now. Everything goes fine when I install and there are no error messages but if I try to launch the game, by either clicking the "launch" button at the end of installation or by going to the Gog games/Might and Magic VII folder and double clicking the launcher exe file (or by trying to launch from the setup launcher) I get re-routed to my 'C:\ ' ("My Computer") drive and the game does not launch and there are no error messages.

EDIT: After installing Greyface's patch I now get a brief blank screen (as if the game is trying to launch) before it crashes back to desktop.

As a follow-up to my original post, it turned out the problem I was experiencing was down to my anti-virus having a problem with one files being downloaded and quarantining it, which would cause the download to fail at the end. To get the game installed I had to switch off my antivirus, completely remove the failed download from the queue in Galaxy, delete the files that had been downloaded from the Galaxy temp folder, and restart my computer

On an unrelated note, once I got the game installed and tried to run it, I bizarrely had a message pop up asking me to insert disk 2 of the game. Rolling back to 1.1 sorted this issue.

While I also got the game working I had to launch the 'Set up' launcher and switch 3D acceleration off. May have also been due to anti-virus but it happened even when I completely uninstalled all anti-virus so I think from reading your post I may have not deleted the old installation before attempting to run the game.
Hey all, I have might and magic 7 installed it via heroic launcher on my steam deck. It immediately asks for disc 2 after launching. how do i get past this? TIA
