IDK if the game is just inferior but I have all the fan patches and greyface patch. I have
set my resolution in the ini. but the game ALWAYS launches with black borders on the side
ONLY this game does it.

Inferior? On the contrary. Black border means this old game has the correct aspect ratio on a modern widescreen monitor, instead of a stretched and less sharp image.
