This forum still seems active but somehow I can't find both shadow of mordor and war. Are these two games gone forever or just temporary?
This question / problem has been solved by HunchBluntleyimage
Everything seems fine to me. I can access the store page for both of the titles, I can put them in the shopping cart and proceed to buy them as a gift.
they appear to me too
try searching "middle"

It might be blocked in Taiwan. (I think there's a way to use GOG Db to check region-block status for games, but I don't know what that way is.)

Thanks for the replies. Yea seems like it's region locked for some unknown reasons. It's available on steam though but I really prefer buying from gog.

It's possible that there was a censored version (probably something like lower violence/gore and/or different-colored blood) that was served to audiences in places like Taiwan, and GOG either wasn't given that version by the publisher, or they would've had to license the right to sell it separately from the "most of the world" version, and declined to do so.
It would also make sense if this were tied to localization--and that seems to be borne out, in part, by the fact that Shadow of Mordor on GOG only has localizations for European languages. But if Shadow of War--the GOG version of which apparently has support for Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Japanese and Korean--is also blocked for you, I don't know what the deal is there. Could always be an error (or an overabundance of caution, for whatever reason) on the part of GOG or the publisher.

At any rate, you should be aware that, while GOG enforces region blocks due to individual countries' laws (or publishers' decisions), they don't region-lock either gift codes or access to the games you get from them. So, if someone who is located in a country that can see the game here wants to buy a gift copy for you to redeem, that will work fine. They also don't really seem to care if you travel to another land...or pretend to, via VPN...to get a copy. :)

Oh yes ~ who doesn't enjoy a quick overseas "shopping" trip over the weekend?

As for my guess for the region lock, Taiwan has always been very lax in censoring game contents. In terms of regional pricing, it's not exactly a "cheap" region either (around mid tier on steam). Steam has drm but not gog, so most likely it's due to piracy concern. Taiwan has been cracking down on piracy since 2000 though. Perhaps the publisher/dev thinks that Taiwan = China? or prejudice from more than 25 years ago? I'm not blaming gog but rather interested in what the publisher has to say.
