Has anyone had to download a patch for the Metal Gear MSX version more than once? I've only owned it for a few months, yesterday when I tried booting it up it blanked out my screen only with audio. I'm wondering if this will need annual patches to keep it functioning due to how old the game is?

No mine works just fine but, the game need a update or two include Japanese text and an actual option menu in-game. Otherwise it's not a bad port. Unlike MGS1.

Is VR Missions equally as bad of a port as MGS 1 was? Thinking of getting it just for VR Missions..

Yes bcause there's an issue that make your Keyboard/mouse/controller unresponsive you have to restart the PC to fix it.

Konami/GOG really need to fix this it's a critical issue. However the base game is fine for most part except like for some framedrops while using stealth camo.

I decided to just get it anyway about a week ago and took my chances. So far I haven't had any serious problems I haven't experienced any problems between my keyboard and controller with either game. Although, its really annoying that I have to play with keyboard during the Mantis encounter I wish they could've added some type of option to simulate switching ports like with PS3 controller options. I Do agree that it gets very glitchy with stealth camo, every time Otacon or the stealth soldiers appear its like their fading in and out of reality. Other than that nothing game breaking least not yet. The only problem I have encountered is locking up problem it kind of has if you play it for an extended period. Hasn't happened to me in a few days but times it has happened was mostly during codec scenes that forces me to "Tab" out. I haven't had any serious glitches that screw with my laptop... Some VR Missions were more ridiculous and some harder than I remember from last time I played it 20 years ago. But for most part still fun..
