I recently purchased Metal Gear Solid. I am able to install, run the game, and create save files properly, but whenever I try to load a save I am presented with a list of empty save slots. I can see my save files when choosing "save game" and in the saves directory in Windows, but they are not listed when I choose "load game".

OS - Windows 11

Things I've tried
- reinstalling the game
- running as administrator
- manually changing the saved game folder permissions to grant all users read/write access
- launching the save file directly by double clicking in Windows and choosing to open the file with the mgs launcher executable.

Nothing is resolving this and any help would be appreciated.

How do you save? By menu -> save game or by calling Mei Ling? Have you tried both?

I don't know if this will help or not or even work. But have you tried going into the game file itself? Find the file on your system that stores the entirety of your Gog games it should just say GOG Games. Go into that click on the metal gear solid file look for 'Saved games' it should be one of the first seven files you see listed inside the metal gear file. If you see it click on the saved games file and see if theres any files in there that has the name of the last level you were playing you can either try going back into the game and look for it or just delete it and replay the first level and try saving and go from there.
Where did the saved files appear? In the folder, after exiting the game? Or did the saved files appear in the game, prior to exiting?
As for the permissions for other programs to access the saved games folder, you can check that by e.g. trying to save an MS Paint file in the saved games folder. If MS Paint returns an error, the folder settings are the problem. If other programs such as MS Paint cannot save in the saves folder, neither can mgsi.exe
When I try to load from the main menu, my game also shows no saves. But if I start a new game and open the load menu once I am properly in-game, THEN I can see my saves and load the one I want. It is very weird. I have just verified my files, and this behavior still persists.
