Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is probably my second favorite game in the franchise. I don't know about the history of the PC ports of the first Metal Gear, but I'm guessing Metal Gear 2 didn't get a similar port that the first one did? Would it be possible to see it on here one day?
Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake never got anything on the PC.

Metal Gear, on the other hand, got a DOS port based on the NES version in 1990. Now they have opted to port the 2006 mobile version, also released bundled with Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence (PS2) and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Xbox 360 and PS3) instead of re-releasing that old DOS port as it was.

Chances are they will eventually do the same with Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake despite never appearing oficially on the PC.
GOG is kinda silent about who eactly is responsible for what is essentially an entirely new PC port of the Subsistence version but they (GOG) kinda seem to imply that the port is their own doing which would be outside their usual MO.

If that's he case, I'm sure a MG2 port is in the works but I figure they'd rather get one of these ports out first and do all the necessary troubleshooting via patches instead of just throwing both out with limited ressources.

Didn't MG1 come out on computers first? Pretty sure it released on the MSX2 in the late 80s.

Yeah, for the MSX2 like you just said. That's the original version of Metal Gear conceived by Hideo Kojima in 1987. Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake was also released for the MSX2 in 1990.

OP was asking especifically for PC versions of these two games, not their full track record on *any* computer platform.
