I'm a couple of hours into the game (1h45m to be exact), and I just passed the part with the rat in the sewers. I got to the next part where some Chot are fighting some cops, and I unlocked the lift. I go there, and take the lift up to the door, and when opening the door, the game crashes every single time. It doesn't matter if I'm in a Chot body, or a copy body, or my own body. It also doesn't matter what type of weapon I'm carrying, and whether there's action going on down below in the street.

There's literally nothing I can do to stop it from crashing. I've tried the "trick" with running the D3D version in -x mode, but that won't get me past the opening intros before the game crashes, so i'm left to run it on the standard glide exe file that is run when you launch it through the galaxy client. The game crashes now and then, but nothing like this. It effectively stops me from playing it at all, since I can't progress.

Does anyone know what to do about it?
I managed to fix it by starting it in safe mode after a crash (using the d3d exe), and playing for about an hour onward with no sound effects before switching back to normal version.

I'm a few months late, but apparently this can be fixed by patching the game with the 02 patch (which strangely is not included in the GOG release. Come on GOG...). The patch enables new settings in the video options, one of which is "Pre-load cached files". If you disable it the crash is avoided.

This is actually true! I just downloaded the patch 02 and it added a bunch of new graphics options.

has anyone who used this patch gotten the music working?
Installing the patch has solved the door issue for me, but now the game can no longer find the music without having the CD in the drive (which I obviously don't have because this is the GoG version)
