Hi everybody, new to GOG.
I love the boardgame Twilight Imperium (3rd Edition) by Fantasy Flight Games. After playing it with a friend, he recommended picking this game up, saying that it was completely similar.
I'm considering purchasing MoO1+2 to play on my Asus eee Netbook when I'm on the go. As I understand the game runs in DOSbox, which I don't think should be a problem.
Before I purchase it, I was just wondering if there are any other users that have been able to run this successfully on a similar device or resolution (1068x600).

moo 2 can run at 800x600 and I assume moo run will run at that or lower so your resolution shouldn't be a problem. Also moo runs in dosbox so a simple alt enter will give you windowed mode if needed, not sure if moo 2 is dosbox or no though. If you meet the minimum specs on the game card you should beable to run both games on your netbook.

I guess the ideal thing then would to try running something in dosbox I can download for free on my netbook to see if it works then.

I believe beneath a steel sky and lure of the temptress run in dosbox and are both free. If you like adventure games and haven't played beneath a steel sky yet I recommend it, very good adventure game. That said it might give you some indication if you can run dosbox at all ok which I imagine you should beable to but different games require different power in hardware to run even if they all run through dosbox.

Beneath a Steel Sky and LOTT both use SCUMMVM, not DOSBox.
That said, just about anything can run DOSBox, and I've gotten MOO 1 and 2 to run perfectly on an old Asus netbook, as well as my newer Gateway/Acer netbook. You'll be fine.

Bethesda offers the first 2 parts of the Elder scrolls series (Arena and Daggerfall) as free downloads on their site. Both have to be run under DosBox.
If your netbook can run Daggerfall under Dosbox then Moo2 should work too.

All three Master of Orion games run fine on my Acer Aspire One D250. The system requirements are, after all, incredibly low.
Most netbooks will run all games from around 2001 and earlier without a hitch; after that, your mileage may vary. From the games available on GOG.com, and aside from the MOO games, I have played Call to Power II, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Sacrifice, Master of Magic (also DOSBox), the Serious Sam games, Duke Nukem 3D (with the fan-enhancements), Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2004, Empire Earth II, Disciples II Gold, MDK, MDK II, Enclave, Outcast, all Fallout games, Gothic II, and Invictus. All ran fine, though I had to turn down the detail on UT2004.
The only problems I've experienced so far are with Ground Control II (playable, but not smooth for the most part), Earth 2160 (ran and could be played, but poor FPS), Star Wolves (runs fine, but the lower part of the interface is cut off on a 1024 x 600 display), Psychonauts (runs and is playable, but chucks in places), Beyond Good & Evil (audio not synchronised, occassional choppy FPS), Advent Rising (choppy), FarCry (almost unplayably choppy), King's Bounty (FPS too low to be playable), Fantasy Wars (doesn't run), Two Worlds (too choppy to be playable), and the original Empire Earth (a problem with the engine/renderer--no solution, as far as I know).

Thanks for all the feedback and support.

Update: I purchased Master of Orion 1+2 and it runs just fine on my Asus eee netbook. Now, to figure out how to play the game well ;)
