Hi,

For some reason I could not send my question to the technical support of GOG, so I ask here to see if anyone has a solution to this problem.

I've been trying to play multiplayer game with Master Of Orion 2 between a IMac (Mid September 2011), and a Laptop HP, Windows 7 but each time we input the Ip address, in any variant possible, it always says,

IPX tunneling client failed to connect to server at "The Ip address"

We have tried using the port number, from each computer, disable the firewall, each of us being the host and trying to connect, using the network ip as the internet ip, even using different ip numbers and even different port numbers, but nothing has worked.

Both version of the game are GOG version, one for Windows one for Mac.
The route used for the PC version is this one:

Our version has preconfigure network host - client
menu start -> GOG.com -> Master of orion 1 + 2 -> Master of Orion 2 -> Network
There one player choose Host and others choose client. Host needs to give others his IP and then he choose Multiplayer -> Network -> start new game
Clients input into console CONNECT host.ip.address
Then they also choose multiplayer - connect network and choose Muptiplayer -> Network -> join game

And the Mac route is the one which is provided by the mac interface.

But nothing has happened, alway the same message.

The game works fine in the single player mode, and it seems to create the game for the network game, but i wasn't able to connect due to this problem.

Could you help me with this problem?

Thanks.

I found this thread with a similar issue:

http://www.gog.com/forum/master_of_orion_series/moo2_multiplayer_pc_to_mac

the solution offered there was to connect to a common server

Yeah
I saw that but I'm looking for a different way to connect directly using the network option.
But thank you for you answer.

I was able to play a multiplayer game, PC being host. In the PC, I created a new rule in the windows firewall, allowing, the port UDP 213, incoming and out-coming traffic in the private network LAN.

Then in the Mac, when the IP is asked to play the network game, I put after the IP the port number:

xxx.xxx.x.x 213

And it worked.

I Hope this would help all the people who could have this problem.

Thank for trying to help. :)
