hey
i havent played this game in a long time. i just love it.
i have a problem trying to design my ships...
i upgrade my shield to level 1 but when i try to design my ship, it says it cant upgrade it.

is it because its kinda crappy at that level or theres an another issue with it?

perhaps you still need to invent the Class I Shield technology first?

its something that i had reaserched. im also noticing other stuff that i am missing as well after reaserching them...

then perhaps you had a Damper Field installed on your ship, captured from Orion or Antarans?
also "other stuff" ... If you want this issue solved you need to be more specific.

Perhaps used to playing with the creative trait and just clicked randomly on any of the techs when picking a new one to research but current game started without the creative trait?

Glad my idea was of help :-)

On impossible difficulty I think the creative pick is not so good as you need more time for it to be good and time is not something you can take as much as you like on impossible but then you must be careful what techs you choose.

On Impossible you are better off using those points somewhere else. After mid game it IS definitely better, but if you do not succeed to get the AI to wage war against each other you will get too far behind. But to succeed in this, you would need to get in contact with most of them rather quickly.

But on impossible, at least for me, I have to restart one out of 3 quite quickly.....
I regularly play with creative trait on impossible. One thing you can try is to give the other races 10% tribute and then get a trade tready and then non agression tready. This makes them easily attack each other and you can develop and soon after break the tribute trady without problems. When you have massdrivers with autofire you most likely can`t loose anymore ;)

Eidt: To make this diplomatic thing work all your colonies need at least missile bases. If the other races see an undefended colony and a low score, you will get attacked.

Ooookey, never thought about using tribute, I must admit......And I have played it on and off for ?????? years ??????

Next time I play, I'll give it a shot!!
A bit too easy to get stuck in a single way to victory in the second MoO game. I have won with creative on impossible too but that was not a fun game.
The Creative trait is the reason I don't play MoO2 very much anymore. Sad to see it made it's way into the new MoO, hopefully it works differently.

What do you mean? Making the game too easy? Making it to hard?
