Is there a way to stop the elections in moo2? For me it really spoils the game to be doing really well building a fleet and then suddenly an election, i win, game over...

You can abstain from voting. That usually prevents you from being elected leader

Haven't played this game for some time but as I recall you could vote for your opponent, refuse to yield, thus enter a permanent war with everyone and make use of that fleet you're building.

Play a multiplayer game. Elections don't happen then.
