If there is no direct-ip or LAN option, then the game does not qualify as no-drm anyway!
this is my thinking too now.. keep my collector's edition on gog.com.. then wait for a steam sale and buy the standard version after release to use solely for multiplayer.
Any update on cross platform play and working multiplayer?
I don't understand why the dev's don't just give us GoG customers a steam key. It would cost them nothing, and solve the problem. I think its quite clear at this point they are never going to get the two versions to play together and that's their own fault. We shouldn't have to wait more than a year for a fix, or resort to paying again (and rewarding them for being idiots).

I would hope that GoG will never again sell products by Wargaming.net since they refuse to fix their own game or do anything to solve the problem. The method I listed above is a very quick and simple solution that would not cost Wargaming.net a cent. They refuse to do it though, because they know people are willing to pay for the game again on Steam. This reflects badly on both GoG and Steam as it leaves their customers thinking they are to blame. Both GoG and Steam should consider baring future sales of Wargaming.net games as they are clearly trying to scam the customers who buy their games into buying them again.
This thread is not only about Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars, but also for example about cross-platform Jazz Jackrabbit 2 playing, but via mobile(Android,iOS,Windows Phone)devices between pc.Backing to topic this could be great to play for example Team Fortress 2 via gog galaxy digital library import even on modern mobile phones support. This sounds interesting, right?

Darn it WarGaming! Just give us a Steam key! There are no GOG multiplayer games for MoO2016 :(
