Hidy ho all,

I'm trying to run my first game, and the bulrathi war dec'd me. Now i'm trying to fight them to the point of a truce.

And they are ruining my day. 1 battle ship and a frigate took out an orbital battle ship, a space station, automated orbital guns, my own cruiser, and a construction ship. I have no idea, what their using or how their using it. But they are ruining my day.

One other thing, they seem to be able to fly through warp lates I need a constructed object to fly through. So, what tech does one need to fly through those lanes?
This sounds very strange, I don't see how they can pass through a system defense unless they destroy it. Also its kind of strange to destroy all of your stuff (especially space station) with just one battle ship... well, unless its very heavy-HEAVY upgraded.

Can you give us a screenshot, or at least which turn is this?

I was a little confused by this myself. The race I met never warped past me, but then I remember a new race I met and they did `avoid` me (I still caught them on the next waypoint). They can only jump every other warp point, I think. I don`t remember the race`s name. I guess some races have this as a special ability.

As for why they`re creaming him, not sure. Need more info. I advise to build a bigger fleet!

p.s. Also upgrade whenever you can.

Yeah, the upgrades are hugely important in this game - keep in mind that you can upgrade your ships only if they are over some of your planets, or a defense post.
This is on turn 444. Lol, didn't think that was going to be the number.

No idea what their tech tree is like either. All I know is that they can run in, and ruin my day. Hell, I don't even know why they hate me.

My tech tree is more balanced. I focused alot on research, hoping I could keep up with the enemies who are trying to kill me through rapid research.

Oh they can't get past my defenses. I didn't put any defenses by those red warp lanes, because I didn't think ships could travel through them. Is there a tech that allows ships to travel through them?

Don`t know.

We`re all a bit new to this game and finding stuff out too.

This do make more sense now, at this high of a turn is possible for them to both have the tech to warp through the unstable (red) holes, and to have a very upgraded battleships that can destroy most of your defenses.

I don't remember the name of the warp tech (but I can look if needed), but its in the middle of the tech tree, and when you research it you got one of those "Science Breakthrough" news casts.

Multi-State Insulator or something like that, It allows passge thru the "red" unstable warp points.

HInt: when you colonize a system that has one of these build an Outpost on it. Or suffer the consequences. And the Bulrathi use Hvy Armor on their Battleships, race trait thing iirc.

Haha. In my new game I came across and unstable Warp point that I couldn`t cross. Dropped an outpost on it just in case.

This new game has turned out rather peaceful allowing me to build up quite well and learn stuff. I think part of the reason was I started in the tippish end of a spiral galaxy. I was able to secure one area with my ships and starbases, while another was owned by a `space dragon` which nobody will cross, so it sealed off the other section where I could be attacked, leaving me in peace. Hopefully the sea dragon won`t leave that system until i`m ready to deal with it.
