Sooo, i just finished my first game on the highest difficulty (me + 5 AIs i believe)
Bascially the bulrathi and me ended up being by far teh strongest, i had the highest population and the highest production, but at least according to the score they had more military power and a little bit more tech.
We were on very good terms, even had open borders treaty etc.
The darloks had spent the enire game only owning their home system of nazin, becuase i think the psilons locked them up there. and there was only 1 route out of their home system.
and the psilons were almost dead, being crushed by the bulrathi and me. (the other alienswere already dead)

So when the galactic stock market opened i obviously went ahead and bought some share.
the bulrathi were the only other race that invested and despite the game telling me that they "invested heavily" they only bought like 1-2 shares and i had by far the most shares easily.
Since none of the AIs tried to stop me i simply won the game after 10 turns for having the biggest economy and the most shares.
The economic victory should either be harder to achieve or the AI should actually go ahead and try to prevent me from randomly winning the game.
I realize that i can just switch it off but what would be the point of that?
If there is a feature in the game it should be worthwhile.
The AI should at least try desperation mode and demand my shares or something like that if they can't afford to buy more.

Don't you think you are overreacting?
You were pretty clear as to how all races were screwed due to war, other than your "ally" , which means that by the time you could win by diplomatic (economic) victory, you were unstoppable anyway, so, how could they have stopped you if they were "destroyed"?
I'm a noob, of course i meant economic victory.
And i am not sure you understand my problem.
The Bulrathi empire was HUGE too, like i said they had a higher score than me, more tech and a much higher military rating.
But they simply did not invest in stocks at all.
(Neither did the other factions).
They bought like 1-2 shares and that was it.

Edit: And just to be clear, i have noticed this behaviour with the AI in other games before.
But in those games i had already "won" anyways and it was just a means to speed it up.

I assume because you were in very good terms, they didn't see you as a hostile...which is why they didn't try to stop you.
Thing is, this is just ONE game. If it repeats then it is an issue. Perhaps.
I'm noticing the same thing. Twice now, once before release and once just now, I have "accidentally" won by economic victory. I've already started disabling points victory since that system seems oddly balanced, and now I guess I'll be disabling economic victory as well. Consider that I'm actively TRYING to win by other means, once via conquering the galaxy and once via technology, but I get blindsided by the economic victory screen. At the very least they could make this victory condition more obvious by some kind of notification. "Hey you've accrued enough GMF shares and have a high enough GGP to win in 25 turns." Something like that wouldn't be too difficult, and at least then I wouldn't be surprised by suddenly winning. It's already WAY too easy to amass a fortune in game unless you spend credits like crazy on improvements and ships. I tend to use mine more as a relief fund should another race decide they'd like to attack me, so I can easily end up with 20k or more BC without realizing.

ok. I don't know what to say.
In all games where I have the option I disable all victory conditions other than conquest so...good luck?

Well yeah that's a surefire way to only get a specific victory condition, but it really limits certain aspects by doing that. Namely it limits what you have to play against from opponents, and it limits your options to transition should you find your initial plans have gone bust.

This sounds like this:

"This game is so awesome, it has tons of different victory options and countless other features. But yeah, actually half the features and traits for your custom race are either redundant or don't work. And you best disable all victory options, because they kind of suck."

Do you want the game to be like that?
I don't.

Well, unlike you I haven't finished the game 150 times so I wouldn't know if half the features and traits don't work. I hope you are mistaken.
As for victory conditions, all I said is what I do in games. Nothing to do with this specific game, and I just wished you good luck with this issue. But seeing your attitude, see if I respond again.

Ehhh... you wished luck to CravenTHC, but this reply is aimed at AiCola. I also dont think it is a personal attack against you, more an attack on flaws of the game (which seem valid to me). I hope you see what I mean.
