I recently installed the insecticide patch 140m. seems ot work but on the screen where you choose your wizard, the custom tab is missing. Is there something I can do to bring it back or do I have to re-install the game.

If I recall correctly, the custom wizard is available at normal difficulty or higher. Try starting a game at impossible and check if the button is there, and if it is, choose a difficulty higher than the one you are currently playing.

Umm, you probably started a game on Easy difficulty, right? There is a (stupid) trick in the original game, that you cannot make a custom wizard on easiest difficulty. They probably thought it was helpful, I am afraid. It is embarassing. I will get rid of it in the next patch, I promise.
The version GoG sells allows custom wizards on Easy but not on Intro. The original release didn't allow them on Easy either.
Kyrub, you're awesome. Always listening to suggestions and trying to improve the game.

Of course, I rarely, if ever, play on "Easy", but it would be nice to have the option (occasionally I play for mindless stress relief instead of challenge).
Allow custom wizards on Intro, too, please.
That isn't something that GoG did; it's part of the game's original coding, so it would only be possible via another mod.

The change to allow custom wizards on Easy was implemented during one of the game's official patch iterations. (I don't remember which version # specifically, but I know I played both versions at some point back when it was 'new'.)
