Does this also include the original Master of Magic game, which it sounds like from your post, or just one of the two Caster of Magic games?

I haven't updated Master of Magic the original, because I see no reason why I would want to, and it seems like I made the right choice. For the Caster of Magic games I hope they get the bugs sorted out eventually.

And those issues with mountains which look like they come from the Super Mario games.

No. That was Caster of Magic for Windows, and it was fixed over a month ago.

That boat sailed 28 years ago. Or did you mean the Community Patch?

The original tile set has been available as an in-game setting in Caster for Windows for over a year now...

I assume it was either the launcher or the Community Patch. The GOG Galaxy auto-updater doesn’t differentiate between the different components in a game installation.

That’s great. I just got into the game recently, so I’m still enjoying the original version, but I assume that at one point I will want to move on to one of the two Caster versions to enjoy the improved AI. The Caster for Windows version looked like the best one, but the changed graphics looked very annoying for me personally. From what I read on Steam forums the last time I checked, the creator of the new version didn’t seem to be very understanding of people’s issues with graphics in this version. But it is good that this has been fixed.

So if you use the original tile set, then it will look exactly like when you play the original game under Dosbox? And is it possible to play the game in fullscreen now?

Okay, I may have had a hand in that... But I don't think I can really blame the author either. Very few people that I know take well to negative criticism of something they created from scratch, and he did eventually start looking into the alternative on his own.

That's correct, although Orihalcon (new terrain special with graphic) and non-walled cities (bugged feature in classic v1.31) may still make it look somewhat different.

Technically, I could probably say "Yes" without lying, but actually, not really. The game uses the original images, so at best you can get scaled / stretched full screen. For the same reason, as far as I know, the view window of the overland map is also still only 12x10. It has been proposed that a full replacement of the graphics and UI is feasible (the author even refactored the engine code to make this as easy as possible), but there have been no takers so far.
