Never save. WHAT? HOW? WHO? You're asking those questions (okay not who)... but yeah. Never save. Take each combat with whatever result you get.

Better make good decisions :)
I played this way in vanilla impossible. Recently upgraded to insecticide... oh my god. I cannot possibly see a way to play this way in that mode, hahaha
Anyone been able to do this in insecticide patch?
Never save scum is better than never save. So you don't lose the game if something happens (crash, etc)
Well I finally did this on impossible insecticide... I think I got a little lucky on RNG early game, Sss'ra seemed to be doing very little for quite some time.

However, I got the short end of RNG a couple times. Attempted a Demon Lord camp, thinking it would be 1-3 demon lords + ghouls... NOPE! Demon Lord + 4 shadow fiends, wiped my entire army + my only hero + 3 items. The shadow fiends regenerated, so I didn't even do any damage! Those bastards...

Later on I attempted a Djinn Camp and it had 5 Air Elementals which I didn't anticipate. Lost 3 heroes and a heavily enchanted army, ouch.

Then the ultimate blunder was when I let my mana hit zero and the game auto-dispeled 20 or so unit enchantments. I was so angry at myself.

Was a pretty great game, with a EPIC finish. After I picked up altar of battle, I started cranking out hammerhands like a madman. After two sorcery nodes of 8 sky drakes and one chaos node of 8 chaos drakes, Myrror was MINE!

Decided to leave Arcanus alone, so I plugged the tower points with Angels, Hammerhands and Steam Cannons and started teching to the Spell of Mastery. About 5 turns into researching it, "SHAREE IS CASTING THE SPELL OF MASTERY" ---wtfomgbbq crapcrapcrap---

Equip Jaer (oh I luv u buddy) with all the movement items I have. Form up an arch angel / hammerhand army while casting awareness. Spot that capital and ZOOM JAER takes the army there at 5 moves a turn. A bug erupts during the battle, causing Sharee's Drain Life to one shot entire stacks of units. In addition, her Berserked Death Knights are CRAZY... she kills my army!! Oh shit oh shit...

Recall hero on Jaer... omgomg ocrapocrap... Summon another arch angel, get some hammerhands and some steam cannons together... ZOOM off to the capital again. Get there in two turns and I'm ready to kill-a-B when... oh no... all my units from the last battle were animated as undead. Sharee has a Hydra, the Death Knights, AN UNDEAD ARCH ANGEL and 4x 14atk / 10def / 18res / 5hits STACKS of hammerhands.

No turning back now... in I go! First turn got prayer up and started raining steam-cannon-hell down upon his two support units. Got em both, but that made Sharee start a death march of melee units out of her capital! Jaer and I started throwing dispel evil every round while raining more cannon hell down, but damn those units were resilient.

Right as they are bearing down on my 3 melee units, my cannons cut them down enough engage with infantry. Took some loses but ended up taking the W. Afterward... "In the ruins, you find a Spell of Mastery." O.O

10 turns later... VICTORY!! Had to banish Sharee again in the interim :P

Nicely done!

I noticed this myself. The lack of the word "many" in the description isn't always a reliable indicator of lair difficulty, since the game (and the patch) bases its use on how many there are of the strongest unit within.

Ouch! Nothing worse than accidentally becoming your own worst enemy. Still, it's no worse than suffering the effects of a Death Wish or Great Unsummoning: nothing that time and mana can't cure, assuming you still have enough of both.

That IS an epic finish! Props to you for pulling it off.

Out of curiosity, how many enemy wizards did you face? You mention Sharee and Sss'ra; were there any others?

What is death wish?
I am assuming "the great unsummoning" is when your mana goes to 0 and you are a summoner so all your units poof?
@THS: Was playing on 4 Opponents, Huge, 2.5x Magic. I kill Sss'ra, Kali killed Oberic. Sharee and Kali were left.

@tatamir: Death Wish is a Death spell that attempts to destroy all normal creatures and heroes on both Myrror and Arcanus. http://masterofmagic.wikia.com/wiki/Death_Wish

Great Unsummoning is a Sorcery spell that attempts to destroy all fantastic creatures on both Myrror and Arcanus. http://masterofmagic.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Unsummoning
