So, sadly all licensed music tracks have been removed from the game.

Is it possible to restore the full soundtrack via modding?
This question / problem has been solved by marcinshaqimage
I think it possible. Mafia modding is very well developed, there are a lot of tools. It's no big deal to get the music back. But i dont have GOG version and i dont want buy it cause i already have steam version.

Yeah, I would like to know how to do this as well.

I bought the old Retail Mafia when it was out here in Czech Republic, so I am wondering what files would need to be replaced from that version?
Which songs are removed ? How many exactly ? :(
You can try replace ab.dta from original game, but I cannt promise it will workd so make backups.

All licensed music tracks - and this means large parts of the game will have no music at all.
These should be the tracks (*Mafia\sounds\MUSIC): https://i.imgur.com/Mnt6lHg.png
So, it's pretty much just a matter of replacing the OGG files.

Thanks, I'll try that.

You mean these?

There is the whole soundtrack, Orchestral Score + car songs.
Just press "Stáhnout pomalu" write the captcha and you´re good to go.

If somebody figures out a way to restore the licensed soundtrack, please create a new thread with step-by-step instructions. That way it can be easily stickied for all eyes to see.

That won't work. They removed AB.dta and replaced it with a Music folder :/
Not the best release.

I'll have to install Mafia from my old CD's so I can take a look at this.

If the music tracks have been converted to OGG (Vorbis) files in a Music folder then they've probably used extracted those songs from AB.DTA.

It should be easy enough to re-add the missing tracks using the available tools...hopefully

EDIT:

Using the mafia file extractor - I can see what GOG have done.

They've basically included blank city_music_xx.ogg files instead of the real ones from the disks.

I'll upload the original files.

There seems to be music for both games.
Just press "Stáhnout pomalu" write the captcha and you´re good to go.
Those seem to be from Mafia 2. At least that's what it says in the archive's name.

Good then. I didn't download it cause I haven't bought the game yet and I have it on cd.
I remember I modded some textures back then so probably it's easy to restore those ogg files.

I apologize, you were right actually: I just checked against a Wiki and the former link did contain only M2 songs.
Corrected that, now there are links for M1 and M2 complete OST.
