As someone who already owns Mafia III on Steam, I recently bought the GOG release.

As I already have played the game for about 50 hours over there, I´d like to transfer my progress to the GOG version for obvious reasons. After finding several Steam community guides where to find the savegame and copy all the necessary parts, I find myself struggling to integrate those files into the GOG release.

I already made out that there are essentially 2 parts, one in the game directory and one in the User/AppData directory. While the files in the game directory are easily copied and replaced, I don´t know how what to do with the AppData files.

So far I have not succeeded to merge those files, the GOG version loads the beginning of the game while the Steam version resumes from where I left off.

It would be great if anyone had any idea that could help me.

Just copy the "gamesaves" folder from C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\<serie of numbers steam version created> to C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\<serie of numbers GOG created>

Cananas: Just copy the "gamesaves" folder from C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\<serie of numbers steam version created> to C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\<serie of numbers GOG created>
For some reason the GOG version did not create a folder with the characteristic numbers and instead just saved the data in C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia III\Data\

I was however able to copy the files from the numbered, Steam-created folder into there and can now resume from where I stopped in the steam version.

Thanks for the help!

Moving from Steam to GOG really paid off for me, the version here runs rock solid where the Steam version was crashing all over the place. Finally I can enjoy the game without having to restart it every 45 minutes.
