philippemorin123: I think Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is only the game + all DLCs. I don't understand how such deal would be impossible to implement on GoG. I'm disappointed.
On GOG we have the Deluxe Edition, which is exactly the same thing.

But the remake of Mafia 1 and Remaster of Mafia 2 would be nice.

In the end it's 2k's decision.
It's a shame that publishers ignore GOG more and more.

It's nice to have games launch on GOG DRM-FREE on original launch day - but eh, I don't expect it...unfortunately.

When games are at their highest price and when they (companies) feel like it could be pirated at top $$ - yeah, I don't expect big companies like EA, 2K, and others to launch their games here. It would be nice if they did, but they probably won't.

B/c games are DRM-FREE over here on GOG, I wouldn't be surprised if companies launch the game at DRM-allowed digital store-fronts like Steam and Epic first and decide not to pull any DRM-checks (Securom, CEG, etc) there...
...and then try to get impatient users (who already bought on Steam and Epic) to go double-dip for the DRM-FREE version on GOG, whenever they (2K and Hangar 13) decide to bring them over to GOG.

Thanks!
Heads up: When Mafia III was released on Steam, it was extremely buggy. They fixed the bugs and then released it on GOG. Now they've "remastered" the game, which has made it extremely buggy again. They didn't even leave the fixed version in people's accounts. Instead, they forced an update on everyone that ruined the game. Right now, the only way to play a stable version of that game is to play the GOG version, which it looks like has never been updated because it's never needed to be updated. I don't know if the current GOG release will be replaced with the "remastered" version in the future, but if you plan to play it, it's worth picking it up while it's on sale and archiving the offline installer, just in case, even if you already own it on Steam.
I'm suspecting the reason the Definitive Editions are not appearing on GOG is because some of the content is locked behind a 2K account login, which is a form of DRM.

Never understood why big game publishers think that kind of content locking is a good idea in the first place.

You are right, it IS an alternative form of DRM, but necessary for some content (in this case a costume which you only get if you own another game). But they might have as well just used the launcher's (Galaxy/Steam/Xbox Live) Service to do that or use their own service. But then you need a implementation of each of these services.

The fact that they DON'T rely on Steam to do that means they plan to release on other platforms as well - and they already did: on Epic. They MIGHT release here too.

Remember Saints Row 3? The first version had it's own servers for backing up and sharing character desgns, but then they connected it to Steam Services.
The later released GOG version comes without an option to backup character designs which needs that services. In Saints Row 4 they didn't even bother to remove the button that starts some steam online services. As a result, the game crashes if you click it.
You forgetting we've got "classic" Bioshock and Bioshock 2 within their remasters ?

Classic Bioshock available inboth Steam and GOG.

Only Mafia 2 DE is a new release. Mafia 3 DE it just an minor update (and only for Windows version). Better stay at GOG versions.
I dont know how "Trilogy" bonuses work. It not like other DLC (not a separate files). Probably this content (buyers of each DE have content from that game to two others +pre-order bonus for mafia 1 DE for Mafia 1 DE itself). There is no DLC for that and no 3d party CD keys (by steamdb.info). One of the old Mafia 3 build-in DLC available after 2K sire registation+subscribe - but this content from 2017 y.

2K mess with Trilogy package that even cannot be buy at release time. So probably only consoles release are proper made.

Mafia 1 DE include only as separate or part of DE Trilogy. it not free for original game owners.
I was shocked about this and coming out of the blue, when my verions of Mafia which I bought on steam started to update themselve, and searching further found they where now part of a Definitive Editions packages.

Will GOG do the same for the versions we own?

Seeing these isn't peeked my interest again, hopefully it'll happen like the Bioshock remasters coming to GOG

What with these remasters though, is there sometime DRM built into the EXE. (which can be patched out but sometimes isn't due to laziness or the devs/company wanting to keep it in past it's cel by date where its purpose is obsolete? )

Instead of just remaking the original they should have just upped the quality of the other two alongside it, thus giving a definitive package instead of 1/5 of the whole?

Sadly, that's not GOG's decision.

So far, 2k has not announced any of the Mafia Remakes/Remasters for GOG.

... about the mess with the trilogy.
They also messed up the releases of Mafia 2 back then, let's see what happens.
I bought the game on DVD, every DLC as well.
Then years later they released the Digital Deluxe Edition for Steam, which was basically the same thing + Soundtrack.
Well, I didn't get the soundtrack. I even tried to buy the DDE, but Steam told me that I already owned it. Contacting support didn't help either. Steam said it was 2ks fault and they didn't answer.

Edit: another question: Does anyone know if the Mafia 2 DE contains all songs again or just the reduced playlist?
Some time before the release on GOG, quite a few songs were removed from the game, also some music was removed from Mafia 1 because the licences had expired (the music for both games can be restored using mods).

Maybe some day in the future? I've seen it's common practice for big publishers.

Well, we got bioshock remastered, so hope isn't totally lost.
