Hello Everyone,
I'd like to install Friends for Life mod in Mafia 2 to get an open world option. With installing this mode I have no issue, however when I lunch the game, it said that I need to pay for this "dlc". So it seems, I need to change something in configuration regarding DLCs itself. I found "DLC mod enabler" but it works only for steam and don't work for my GOG version.

Does anyone have same problem? And maybe know how to fix this?
I'd much appreciated :)

Cheers,
Wojtek

Hi. Are you still having the issue? I haven´t tried the mod on the GOG version yet, only the Steam one, but have you installed the stuff from the update5 folder as well? Steam apparently gives you this error about the DLC purchase if you don´t do so, so it seems like it might be required for the GOG version as well.

Here´s a post from the mod´s discussion:

This mod isn't GoG version friendly is it?

EDIT: Your exe's don't add Steam DRM, they just add a dependency for the Steam API dll replacements so it is GoG friendly."[/i]

The said replacements are in the update5 folder, so I assume that´ll be it.

Good luck! It´s a great mod :)
Thank you for the answer, especially for confirmation that mode version is not only steam but common. That information push me to check the mod installation again and it appeared I didn't copy pc folder from "update5" (face_palm). After that game works perfectly fine. So thank you again :)
Great! You´re welcome. Glad it helped :)

Did you have to create a new shortcut for the game to run it? (you have to for the Steam version) I wanna install the GOG version at some point to play with the mod (keeping the Steam one ´clean´ to register time and achievements), so just to know if the GOG one also has this issue with the mod.

Also, if you´re not already using it, I highly recommend the Mafia 2 Uncut Radio mod, to get the proper musical experience :)

No, there is no need to create another shortcut.

Thanks for recommendation. :)
This might be because the original non-director's cut version isn't available on GOG, the director's cut doesn't appear to add a whole lot from first glance, there's music licensing issues and some removed tracks, there many be incompatability with your mod and this new Mafia 2 build, that's up to the mod's creator to update, same thing has happened to many Minecraft and Fallout 4 mods when a new update changes the exe and other files.
Those user-created modifications needed to be recompiled with the updated official SDKs that the game's developers put out, sometimes with the game, such as Creation Kit or GECK, and what ever Minecraft uses, I believe an unofficial mod loader?

Mafia 2's modding scene was niche, no official SDK or anything, so you may need to wait until the Mafia 2 modding community opens this puppy up.

That being said, I remember this mod, using Mafia 2's DLC package loading to load user-created mods as a form of user-dlc was really smart.

Good luck!
