I'm not sure if I misremember, but I seem to recall there was a release of M.A.X. with a much less cluttered, and in my mind, much better looking, box cover art. I can't find it anywhere, so maybe I'm just crazy, but it was similar to the cover art that can be found on Mobygames here: http://www.mobygames.com/game/max-mechanized-assault-exploration/cover-art/gameCoverId,10861/, featuring that same tank in the foreground, but without all the smaller images in the background. So it was just the tank on top of an entirely red box, somewhat in the style of this: http://www.mobygames.com/game/max-mechanized-assault-exploration/cover-art/gameCoverId,140456/. That's a really striking cover I'd like to have as a desktop background, but it's nowhere to be found.
