Not sure if this has been addressed by someone else in the community, but for those interested in having the official higher quality videos in Lords of the Realm II you can download those files here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-1j94-fT99wS0Ue9xtrcoKuIybUvdSkz/

Just extract them into your Lords of the Realm II GOG install folder, overwriting what's already there.

The GOG developers inadvertantly included the lower resolution, interlaced SMK videos in their install package and still haven't gotten around to fixing that. But this RAR archive contains all the higher resolution versions of the videos that I took from my collection of original game discs.

Enjoy!
this fuckin rules, thanks for uploading these! I always wondered where people got the high-quality versions you see on youtube sometimes; I̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶m̶e̶m̶b̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶i̶n̶e̶m̶a̶t̶i̶c̶s̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶l̶a̶c̶e̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶d̶i̶s̶c̶ ̶c̶o̶p̶y̶,̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶i̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ ̶s̶i̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶G̶o̶G̶ ̶v̶e̶r̶s̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶:̶V̶ so after playing a bit with these, the intro cinematic works and looks great, but I guess I was misremembering and it seems the in-game cinematics aren't interlaced (that, or GoG corrected it at some point). also, it seems like some of the higher-res videos (such as hang.smk) aren't scaling properly for w/e reason; easy fix tho, just been swapping the odd ones out back to the originals so they don't expand out of the intended border

Probably what you saw back in the day was the interlaced videos because the installers didn't always correctly detect that your hardware was capable of running the higher res versions.

That's interesting about the scaling issue .... don't think I've encountered that yet. Both the interlaced and higher res should scale the same ... hmmm ... I guess when I get back to the game I can do more testing.

Just ran a test and confirmed that the current downloadable GOG installer still does install the lower quality interlaced videos and the GOG Galaxy updates don't install the higher res videos either. So GOG never did fix this themselves.

Hopefully you're still around. These original vids are top notch. But, as the other person in this thread has said, some videos are not scaled properly. If you are able to double down and find a fix if you can it would be great!
I think the solution to this is probably DxWnd so I'll see if I can find a few minutes to share my config.
Okay, here we go:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RgU1FH3wYIeKRJunCktD86McfIFCDY-3/

Archive name is "Lords of the Realm II (GOG) - DxWnd proxy (v2.05.98) poor man's proxy.rar"

For this to work the game needs to be installed here:
"C:\GOG Games\Lords of the Realm II"

Copy these three files (all contents of "DxWnd (v2.05.98) files" folder) from the archive to "C:\GOG Games\Lords of the Realm II":
DxWnd (v2.05.98) files\dxwnd.dll
DxWnd (v2.05.98) files\dxwnd.exe
DxWnd (v2.05.98) files\dxwnd.ini

Then execute "Lords of the Realm II (GOG) - DxWnd - enable Run As Admin.reg" to set "C:\GOG Games\Lords of the Realm II\dxwnd.exe" to run as administrator.

And that's it for the setup. You can then use these two links included in the archive to launch the game or map editor:
Lords of the Realm II (GOG).lnk
Lords of the Realm II Map Editor (GOG).lnk

DxWnd should automatically adjust scaling of the cut scene videos (I haven't test this yet but that's how it usually works). This setup uses the "No SHIMs" setting in DxWnd which creates its own copy of the executables so it can exist along side the default GOG configuration allowing you to launch the game either using the links I provided or the GOG links if you want to launch the game using its standard GOG configuration.
