I use Game Ranger for older titles like LOTR or Patrician.

http://www.gameranger.com/

Go there and download the application, then add Lords of the Realm to your list of games to play. Find a friend (or we could setup something) to play and you should be good.

LotR isn't on the list. It doesn't seem to be supported. Are there similar applications?

You could try Tunngle. I believe that the site is not all in english.

Scratch that it seems to have translations for German, English, Italian | Community: Bulgarian, Chinese (simplified), Croatian, Czech, Dutch, Danish Finnish, French, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Malay (Malysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand), Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Serbian (Latin and Cyrillic), Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian

This is a list of supported games. It's in the L section, alphabetical order:

http://www.gameranger.com/games/

I I've played a couple games with a friend; I can report that it does have a couple of stutters and graphics issues but otherwise works fine.

Thank you. I finally realized i could add new games and everything seems to work fine. :)
I cant set up a multiplayer LAN game. How would i go about doing that?
I'd like to get a game going if anyone is up for it. Just let me know what need be done.

Also is anyone else having audio issues, music repeating the beginning of tracks over and over?
Or dealing with a sudden "Victory!" out of nowhere..

The track glitch is constant for me only being fixed 1 of every 3 times by shutting off the Music then waiting 5 - 10 seconds before switching it back on. It's becoming rather annoying to having to do it each time I switch from map to map. The "Victory!" thing has only happened once and I just loaded last turn after sitting lost for a sec.

Much thanks.

Also, you should find me on Tunngle by the name of Nichita1998
hi Nichita1988 - I downloaded Tunngle and added you as a friend there
Gameranger seems to see Lotr II gog version as the beta...but it launches until you hit start game and then the other person is waiting forever for host....in my experience so far.

I tried playing over gameranger, network, and hamachi, running out of ideas. Has anyone gotten this working on network with a windows 7 computer? I'm trying to get it working between a Windows 7 computer and a Windows Vista computer.

Have you tried Tunngle? People have said it works well using that. Here's a guide to getting the game to work with Tunngle:

Hope this helps.
The only solution I've found so far is IPX Wrapper which lets you play IPX mode on more modern computers by running the IPX code through the network. Not sure how stable it is for internet play but it works well on non-wireless network play for this game and some other old ones. Check it out here. Simple directions unzip move some files o the right folder and then run the right executable.
