hey everyone, i like to play offline and when i was young found that there was an edit that could be done to give you lots an lots of gold. Is this something that still works? does it work on a mac? I am not really a computer guy so my skills are a little lacking but if anyone could help that would be great.

You would need an editor that can track and edit RAM. Hexedit was a program I used back in the day.

You would plug in the amount of gold you have and you'll get several memory locations. Then when. Your gold changes, enter that amount and search within your previous results. Keep doing that until you have one memory location left. Edit that memory location to change your gold.

Most (edit: single player) games allow this type of manipulaton. But you can run into problems that can glitch or crash your game.

What Tallima said, but you can do it on save game file as well. I have done lots of hex editing on this game (down to map editing) but not have my old notes handy right now unfortunately.
