try going into the dosbox config for the game and go to the Soundblaster settings and set the IRQ from 7 to 5 and lower the cycles to 2000 it should help

I'm a little bit of a greenhorn when it comes to that stuff. Might it be too much trouble for a step-by-step? I don't want to corrupt my game by accident.

Okay, go into your Larry 6 directory it should be c:\gog games\leisure suit larry\leisure suit larry 6\ now in this directory you should find a file called "dosbox_l6.conf" open this is notepad or similar program, now you should see a listing of a bunch of stuff like:

[dosbox]

language=
machine=svga_s3
captures=capture
memsize=16

scroll down till you see:
[cpu]

core=auto
cycles=max
cycleup=1000
cycledown=1000

now change the number on the line marked Cycles= from max to 20000 then scroll down again till you see
[sblaster]

sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplrate=22050

now change the number on the line irq= from 7 to 5

then save, also no need to worry about ever "corrupting" your game as the settings in dosbox.conf's files only affect the Dosbox emulator and not the game itself.

if your still having issues with sounds just let us know here and myself or someone else will see what can be done

Thank you, the skips still happen but they a few and far between, MUCH more tolerable. Also, it's nice to see all the gags on the limo!

Well try going to the section in the dosbox.conf

[mixer]

nosound=false
rate=22050
blocksize=2048
prebuffer=80

set the line Prebuffer= from 80 to a higher number, it worked with a similar issue that the Tex Murphy games had. You may have to play around to see what number works

Baggins: Good thing, GOG, glad to hear!

THanks for the LSL7 too.

Did the new installers switch to dosbox?
Leisure Suit Larry 1 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 6 VGA all use ScummVM.
Leisure Suit Larry 6 SVGA and Softporn Adventure use Dosbox.

Cool. Makes sense, since Larry 6 SVGA will only work in dosbox..

Although just a suggestion to anyone playing these games, the SCI related games especially the VGA ones work better faster/smoother in Dosbox than in SCUMMVM.

That's right. I would prefer a complete Dosbox release too. I can handle Dosbox a lot better than ScummVM.
