Hey, folks! I just installed this game, but when I try to run it I'm getting this error: "LEGOHarryPotter.exe Main Executable Has Stopped Working."

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). Any thoughts/ ideas?

***Edit: omega64 provided me with the answer (thanks again!)

This sounds strange, but this is a windows fault i have come across a lot of times as a gamer. The solution for fixing this problem in a lot of games was in my case. changing the output quality of the speakers in windows. If you set this on the lowest value 16 bit, 16000hz in my case the games runs fine.

I installed Lego HP Years 1-4 yesterday and had the exact same problem as akhliber. Nvidic's solution worked perfectly for me! The lowest setting my sound card would do is 16bit 44100hz (CD Quality), so I can confirm it works with this setting. Also, I am using Windows 8.1 (64bit).

Thank you Nvidic for this!
You don't need the lowest setting, anything up to 44100hz should work.
For me the Sound-trick doesn't work. I have here Win7 Ultimate 64 Bit.
Thanks guys this also worked for me. Instead of 16kHz i reduced to 48kHz and now it works fine. Even if it is not a big change maybe gog guys can improve the version to work with higher bandwidthes in the future?
Would be great!
It doesn't work for me unfortunately, both 1-4 and 5-7 experience these problems and the solution doesn't work for either of them. I'm using windows 8.1
Sorry for opening this topic again, but I've got very similar problem to this one.

I'm also getting "LEGOHarryPotter.exe Main Executable Has Stopped Working" error message, but during the gameplay, not startup. It used to crash quite early in the game - in 5th level of the first year (Forbidden Forest). I tried to fix it with setting the rate to 24 bit and sampling frequency to 44100 Hz. Fortunately, it worked just fine for me to finish the level.

However, AFAIK the problem still remains at some specific location - Gringott's Bonus Level no. 5 (the one with Ron and Hagrid). I know it's only a bonus level, but still. Game just keeps crashing during that level with the "stopped working" error message. Doesn't matter what bit rate and sampling frequency I choose in sound settings - it always crashes. I wonder if it's not the sound but graphic card issue, but haven't found anything about it so far.

EDIT 16th Dec.: After playing with Graphic and Effects settings in the Main Menu, I came to conclusion that FSAA might be the issue in my case. After turning the FSAA off, I've had no crash since then. Already in the Year 4 :D

If anyone else has issues with the "FSAA" setting causing crashes, I'd be curious to know if forcing SGSSAA through Nvidia Profile Inspector works or also causes issues. The compatibility bit used for most Lego games is 0x004010C1.
