I was reading faq in official forums of this game where it was said it will give people "bonus" by chaining this game to their steam account.

Is there a way to play this game as any other gog game?

The only bonus you will get by that are achievements - I do not think there will be any other bonuses.
The GOG version of Legend of Grimrock, as all GOG games are, is DRM-free. You'll be able to play it like any other GOG game. I believe the comments on the game's FAQ refer to the fact that when you purchase directly from the developer, you gain a key to register the game with Steam if you wish.

If you pre-purchase the game through the official website (www.grimrock.net), you will receive a DRM-Free copy of the game along with all the bonuses listed on the GOG website. According to the game designers, the best way to support them is to purchase the game directly through their website.

GOG has a little more bonuses.
OK. So it seems that there are a few more bonuses via GOG.

Additional bonus materials:

3 design sketches
4 wallpapers
6 artworks (assuming there is no overlap in the other bonus categories)
12 avatars (unless this includes pictures of the default party, then it is 8)

Am I missing anything Lexor? ;-)

Well, I haven't done the exact compare here - my info was purely based on "blue texts" I've read in topics about the game. :)

Thank you for your answer :) now im gonna definately buy this game!
Yeah, the day GOG starts selling games that get tied up to Steam or with pre-order bonuses and god-knows-what-else, is the day I leave this place and never look back.

So, that's true? No achievement in GOG version? The GOG game is not the full one when not DRMed?
Why didn't the dev' include them in GOG version??? That's a very easy feature to include: I don't mean the dick contest, but just the informations they can give to the one player.

Not a big fan of achievements, happy with progress through games. Besides buying on Steam appears to be more expensive than GOG here in UK

US$ 13.49 = 8.48908187 British pounds

UK£ 10.79 = 17.146389 US$

Wonder why the difference?

Because the achievements on Steam are Steam Achievements, they are platform specific. The only real reason achievements exist is so that you can compare your progress with other people or lead you to fun things you can do in the game. Seeing as without Steam there wouldn't be an achievement comparing platform and the game is driven by exploration and self-discovery, achievements without Steam really wouldn't add much to the experience.

You've got to except that Steam has grown very much into a pseudo platform in its own right within PC gaming. It would be a bit like asking why my Wii game doesn't have Xbox Achievements.

Thanks. That's what I thought. So achievments are missing in non-Steam version.
Lazy dev mocking the non-Steam players, I won't buy your not-so-indie game...

You're not very bright, are you? Has nothing to do with the devs. Sheesh.

Then bu it on steam and stop your bitching. You can either buy it without drm and without achievements or you buy it on steam, up to you.

Really why would you want achievements on a game that isn't tied to an account (I personally don't want them then either)? It becomes completely pointless, you get no reward whatsoever. I just don't get it!
