Nitpicking.. but it says:

- Graphics: ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or better (512MB graphics memory or more. Shader Model 3.0 needs to be supported).

while the GF7600 only had 256MB.

I don't think there was a Radeon x1600 with 512MB memory either. Heck, my Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro Ultimate only has 256MB of memory.
I have years of experience playing way under the minimum specs, meaning it should be possible, just not as enjoyable perhaps.

Of course I've never played this one so I can't tell for sure.
I have X1300XT card (it's equal to X1650 which means it's better than X1600) with 256MB so I've asked developers about that and got this reply:
We haven’t tested LoG extensively with a 256MB GPU so it’s officially not supported. I guess we really need to test it with 256MB for real and see if there’s any problems. Could be that it runs just fine with medium or low detail texture settings. But let’s run some tests first.
BTW: I did compatibility test when it was available and had no problems on my card.

My GeForce 7600 GS is 512. That said, I've installed the hardware test and re-installed directX and before the program even starts up I get a D3DERR_INVALIDCALL error.

Sounds like your issue should be fixed in the final version. :)
