I know it's not buying them, but they're all available to download on Abandonia...

Well, I know this (as probably everyone else) but... you know... in addition to legal copy I would like to have them with all possible extras as I love this series. It reminds me my very first steps with PC gaming.

Well, yeah. But some people want to own legal copies of games. Of course, because of the sticky legal situation revolving around SSI's properties (The rights of which are now owned by Ubisoft but Atari has the D&D license) the chances of it ever being re-released are slim at best.

A pity, though the first Lands of Lore is available here and is the spiritual successor to Eye of the Beholder.
Still got my original EOTB boxed copy - but downloaded it from Abandonia as I've not got a floppy drive any more...

You can always buy external USB floppy drive :D It's cheap and sometime useful when having big collection of older classics.

I found any other previous version of these games (the abandonware ones) more than a little glitchy, and I could never get EOB2 (my fave by far) to run at all beyond the intro, so I'd welcome an official (verified fixed) release.
definitely want EOB II
- brilliant game, and a complete pain in certain areas :D

I never managed to get very far with EOB3 - I think I just lost interest.

I think
http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/dungeon_master_2
should be added to the list as well :D

Why DM2 and not DM1 then? ;) I've created this topic as I love EOB series the most of all dungeons crawlers. But if people want me to, I could be able also to add other dungeon crawlers to first post.

ah, because DM1 and CSB are available here:

:D

I still play them regularly, but not played DM2 for a long time...

Well, yes, but I think it is fan made port, not official one, right?

Ah, then indeed there is no such USB floppy drive. Well, I still have my old P2 with such drive to run such floppies :P

true, but I'm sure they were given the go-ahead if it wasn't for profit. The other issue is that DM1 was released for PC, but CSB wasn't, so to play that you would need an emulated version.

EOTB III gets my personal downvote for being the worst game I ever had spent money on.
Back in the day I bought the CD version. Which didn't have any CD enhanced features at all apart from not juggling floppies at install.
The very first thing you get greeted with are aggravating ambient sound effects at the same volume level as an axe cleaving a skull in twain. Loud as heck. Also the game stuttered on my 386 and my 486 back then due to horrendous load times. Also EOTB engine and wide open areas don't mix. The story was non existant, the puzzles were horrid, the game takes a dump on your desk. The way it runs in Dosbox is actually authentic.
EOTB3 was done by SSI without Westwood and it shows. Meanwhile Westwood worked on Lands of Lore which took EOTB3's lunch and gave it a wedgie.

Now EOTB1 and 2 are great games but exercises in frustration. Just the other day I watched a Let's Play of EOTB 1 . The guy finished it within 8 hours while not leaving any stone unturned. It took my teenage self closer to 200hrs to finish it. Still got the maps I drew for EOTB1 somewhere.
