Quick question: How much of this game takes place above ground?

Is it like Might & Magic 3, with an extensive overworld and lots of puzzles and battles above ground?

Is it like Arcana on SNES, with tree-themed dungeons that effectively drop you in a nature labyrinth under the open sky?

Or is it more of a, "Take a quick walk to the next door down to a dark dungeon" kind of a deal, with the above ground bits few and far between?

I really love the gameplay of first-person party-based CRPGs. The problem is, I just don't like being trapped in dingy cellars all the time. :D

The game consists of about a dozen major map zones, each of which has anywhere from 2-4 layers (up or down - it varies), and most of which are overland at the 'surface' level, so there's more underground (or at least interior, since buildings tend to go up rather than down) content than overland content, but the amount of overland content is significant.

Thank you, sir. This is definitely on my to-play list. :)
What's worth noting is that the outdoor areas are PACKED with secrets, puzzles and hidden treasure. And especially early on in the game, some of the monsters you'll find there provide a tough challenge and might even require you to find special items to be conquered. Without said items.. you'll have to run/swim for your life ;)

There's a lot of fun to be had there.
