Anyone know how to turn off the back ground hum?
It's not adjustable in settings.
It sounds like a synthesizer playing the same note constantly.
Otherwise sound is OK.

This is a Realtek chipset on Z390 MB

Basically I found this is the hum of the teleporter in SR1.
Sometimes after finding teleporter game becomes unstable and the teleporter hum stays.
When this happens I know game could crash so I make save and restart.
Problem solved. Seemed to happen much more in early part of game.
Trying to run at 1440P so I settled for 1080P and this helped a lot.

You should state which game of the series you are talking of.
Can't say for sure but, I have similar problems with a few other older games recently, and it seems that adjusting your hardware acceleration level for audio (please search for yourself if interested. I'm not good at describing things in English) works sometimes.

Hardware accel Probably related. Basically unstable game engine.
I found saving and not running above 1080P basically solved problem.

Good to know! I didn’t know that resolution may also play a part in this type of problems.

The game ran normally then after visiting a teleporter the sound would stay on hum. At this point I knew the game was unstable and it would crash soon. This happened more in the early to mid part of the game ony. I tryed Deges voodoo wrapper but it didn't help. So I kept it at 1080P and saved if the sound started messing up and restarted game. I think this is related to vsync since I was running at a very high frame rate. The game came out when there were only 60 hz CRTs.

This doesn't happen at all in SR2. I had a frame rate incompatiblity in that game since my monitor has a refresh rate of 144 hz and the game won't let you force the Vsync to 60 fps. SR2 only seems to work properly when I use the voodoo wrapper and force vsync to 60 fps. Then I can run at 1440P with no issues. Sound is fine and never crashes and I just got the wind reaver. The wrapper also allows you to make the game look much better.
