Hi. Does the game run on Windows 10? The Reviews section has a lot of negative reviews about bugs and crashes but mostly from 2017-2019. The game is now fixed?
Funnily enough, the original CD release of the game (at least the German version) still installs and works flawlessly on Windows 10.

For anyone finding this, there is another thread that mentions merging another version with the GOG version. I did that, and no longer face the unit creation bug, which is great!

A crash occurs after a mission is completed and you select another to play. As soon as the mission is selected it crashes before the video plays. I'm also getting random crashes to desktop rarely, but its worth noting I have to run KKND through a program called "dxwnd" because the screen has tearing and artifacts.

KME actually works too! I couldn't get that dang thing running when I had an actual 98.
I don't know if it will creash on win 10 , i cant try it : the game has a extreme high CPU load ( i7-9700K)
even on win 7 64 bits the game had extreme high cpu load ( quad core 2,67 ghz 8 mb ram)

I guess it will run perfect on an old pc ( hardware) and an old win 98 or so :D

many good old games behave bad starting with win 7 64 bits and quadcore , it ran well on win XP 32 bits.

Rage of mages 1+2 same cpu story ....the game that run a charm are the new games , then again i joined for the old games , but many wont run properly on new windows and new hardware ...
Fallout 1 ran ok ( after fiddling around with settings which was a real pain .... )
Fallout 1+2 + tacticswont run well on win 10 latest version.

Anyway as i mentioned before i prefer the good old games ( staring with a decent VGA of course , not the ga,mes with 4 colors and pixelgraphic.

Well the you are a very lucky gamer cause i have the retail KKnd aswell and it wont run, it nags about compatibilty ( even with the first win 10 i had)
I also have the KKND (only the English version) and i think it was a DOS game?

Fact is that my favorite games perform extremely bad, and games i seldom play seem to run a charm, then again win 10 has way too many updates pushed by M$ to be stable.

I started with DOS and win 98 all the way to win 10 which is imho the worst windows ever ( but still 1000% ( if that would be possible, ) better than win 11, ( watched some win 11 videos and it looks horrible).

Anyway, it looks like things will only worsen over time : win 11 seems to be coming up, so maybe i will have to uninstall all old games / software, at the moment i already uninstalled 33% of my favorite games .
Well, at least (the German) KKND2 Krossfire works on Windows 10 when you install it from the original CD release. So far I have yet to even run into a single game crash ever since I bought it when it got released.

KKND2 is one of those games that you install to see if the latest Windows is any good, simply because the game is so incredibly well programmed.

The first KKND used to work no problem on Windows 7 still, however there I played the "KKND Extreme" version of it, which as far as I know just contains all the original content and some extra.

Thanks for the reply...

I have the first game on cd ( english version) and i cant get it to run under win 10 pro, it never ran under win 7 64 bit and it had cpu performance problems ( high cpu on the quad core i used in the win XP /win 7 era.

My original Fall Out and fallout 2 retail only ran under xp 32 bit, also rage of mages ( retail) only ran under win xp.

Anyway, the sad part is many of my favorite classics have problems( i uninstalled 80% of them) ,while the rest of the games i seldom or never play run 100% ok.

The only plus is my HD has lots of free space again :D
