I know that BAK is not linux supported by gog, but I have a question for the linux users on here. BAK runs fine in dosbox on ubuntu, but there is no sound. The sticky post isn't really relevant here. Any sound at all would be preferable but this games sound support is just a mess. I tried different entries in the resource file to no avail. It doesn't matter if I use cd audio or not. It doesn't matter if I mount the music cd. I got nothing. Tinkered with dosbox sound settings and all sorts of stuff. At this point I am not sure if I can get the sound to work at all. Any feedback would be very appreciated!

!!!EDIT!!!! much to my embarrassment further tinkering has fixed my issue (dosbox setting, not krondor) so this question is withdrawn. Sorry!

What settings did you have to change? SoundBlaster setings? MIDI?
I set Resource.cfg soundDrv = SNDBLAST.DRV
And I had to set mixer rate to 44100
and sound blaster 16
In my case running a fairly stock Ubuntu 18.04 and dosbox 0.74-4.3:

After entering the game directory with dosbox, I executed INSTALL.EXE

From there, you can select one of several sound devices. Ultimately "Sound Blaster / Adlib Card (or compatibles") worked best for me, which updated Resource.cfg:

soundDrv = ADL.DRV

Also, I saw this message when I ran dosbox, but it did not seem to affect the sound - you can address the ALSA error by adding something like 128:0 or maybe something output from `aconnect -i`.

CONFIG:Loading primary settings from config file /home/ben/.dosbox/dosbox-0.74.conf
MIXER:Got different values from SDL: freq 22050, blocksize 1024
ALSA:Can't subscribe to MIDI port (65:0) nor (17:0)
MIDI:Opened device:none
