I swear to god.

Every time I want to reload a save to try a battle, I get the EXACT 100% same results:

- Aren fails stealth
- None of my party is able to retreat
- Enemies that hit/miss on the first turn will magically do so again
- Any swings that I missed/landed will do so again

It's like I'm trapped in an rng sequence that won't reset, even if I restart the game from the desktop. What is going on?? The only other game where I've seen behavior like this is Heroes of Might and Magic 5.
This is probably because the game uses pregenerated seeds instead of generating new seeds every time they are used. Its easier to program and use less resourses. Many game does this on purpose to prevent save scumming.

You can usually get around it by doing something else before you enter combat that also use a random seed. That way the first seed gets used up and a different seed will be used in the combat.
That may actually work, thanks!

I decided to restart and was having an abyssmal time dealing with the 4 bandits outside of Briala on Hard difficulty because of the RNG seed. Had this game sitting in my backlog for over 20 years now and still haven't beaten it. Decided to finally give it a proper shot.

Currently trying to map out a route using metagame knowledge in order to survive Chapter 1. Antara is insanely difficult... ugh! I never had this hard of a time in Betrayal at Krondor.
