The game runs way too fast. You can't get to the first town before it hits nightfall because every step you take advances the game time by like 30 minutes. A 24 hour period lasts about 4 minutes while walking. I played this game as a kid, so I know it's not supposed to be like that.

The worst part is that you need to eat and sleep, so this fast-forwarding of time requires you to eat and sleep every 3 minutes or so while traveling or you'll be exhausted and/or starving. This makes the game practically unplayable, and certainly unenjoyable.

I did a search on this forum and people (incorrectly) claim that the GoG version has fixed this issue. Unfortunately, It is still very much present.

I tried using a program to slow down the CPU speed
, playing with various settings. Movement speed returned to intended levels, but the passage of time was still lightning fast. Changing the "step size" to small also reduces movement speed, but it doesn't seem to have a significant impact on the passage of time.

Google searches don't really come up with any relevant/recent results for this problem. In fact, searching for this game mostly brings up KRONDOR stuff, which is useless when troubleshooting Antara. Frustrating!

I have the retail version and time passes way to fast in it (also crashes under Wine). Squirt the Cat installer found on sierrahelp.com fixed that, turn speed, etc. for me. Well, mostly. It still turns dark by the time I reach the inn, but it's not too bad. Only thing is I'm not sure if that works with the GOG version.

Looks like the installer requires the CD version of the game. Thanks for trying, though!

Meant to suggest that you send in a support ticket as this shouldn't be broken.

Took a long time to reply to this, but since it's now the top result in google for this issue, I might as well give an update.

GoG support told me there was nothing to be done because the game already has all available patches. The issue still persists, of course. Short of running this on an old Windows 3.1 machine or perhaps with an emulator, I don't see any way that this game will function as it was originally intended.

As it is, you can test this by walking to the first town (you arrive at nightfall) and then walking around for maybe 15 seconds. It'll be morning again and the party will be exhausted. Definitely not the way it's supposed to be. Lame.
Yeah I have the same issue. Just walking around the first town a little, 2 days pass in no time. Clearly not sustainable. Can't find a way to fix this. Pity I won't get to play this. Already had played Krondor a long time ago so this is wasted money.
