I don't remember this game running this fast. I put step to small in the preferences but it's still too fast. Is there a way to fix this?
If you are you playing with the GOG version in Windows without any configuration changes, the game runs fine, as it had in a fast computer of the day. If you remember it being slower you probably played in a potato :P

In any case, go into the installation directory, open dosboxBAK.conf with Notepad, look for the line cycles=max and change it to cycles=40000. Then look for the lines cycleup=1000 and cycledown=1000 and change the numbers to 2500.

Run the game as see how it feels. If too fast use CTRL+F11 to lower the cycles by 2500, and if too slow CTRL+F12 to raise them.

Once you find a setting you like, and don't remember how many times you pressed to lower/raise, press ALT+ENTER. In the title bar you will see the current cycle count.

Put that number instead of 40000 in the cycles= line, and you are done.

I remember moving around in the world felt like smooth running. Now it feels like I'm in a jet plane. I'll try the dosbox changes you suggested. I have never really messed around with the configurations before. Thanks.
