I was having trouble getting my game to run, like it would play and then crash during the intro movie. I deleted Galaxy and RtK just to get a nice clean start.

However the reinstall failed, so i try to verify. The verify tried to download something and that's when windows defender popped up saying it removed something. (i hate that most of the AA software's don't just ask anymore)

So i opened up defender and looked into what history it had, and apparently it blocked 4 other instances of RtK. Allowing the item, restoring it, and doing another verify fixed all those problems.

Other problems i had was the mouse wasn't visible, and the colors were off. Setting to Windows 95 fixed those, but with this new do-over i didn't have to do any of that and those two problems are still gone.

So check your AV software when installing or running this game. Really wish it would ask me before removing, it's such a pain in the *** sometimes.

I'm running Win10x64 build 14986.1001, under and an R9 380 4GB running Crimson ReLive 16.12.2's--and the only version of an AV program I use is Defender...which is up to date and I just fired up RtK with no compatibility mode set at all except for Run as Admin--and the game runs perfectly. Indeed, I have had the program (purchased from GOG) for awhile, through several Win10x64 builds and several GPU drivers--and haven't had any trouble at all from the game--or from any viruses being falsely detected by Defender.

I don't use Galaxy at all, btw. Have you thought that maybe you do indeed have a virus somewhere in your system? Several of them hide somewhere and then when you execute the right kind of program they attempt to attach themselves in an effort to spread. I'd make sure that Defender is completely up to date and then do a full system scan to see if anything else turns up in your system.

I'm not clear on what you mean by "verify"--are you talking about something through Galaxy? Hopefully, when you "deleted" RtK and Galaxy you actually uninstalled them by way of Programs & Features. But what sort of "verify" did you mean if not something done through Galaxy--which you said you had uninstalled? Sounds like you have some other issues going on in your system...All I can tell you is I haven't had the same troubles with the game/Win10/Defender at all...Good luck...hope you get it sorted.

Tip I just remembered: if you want the opening videos to play properly from the center of the screen, be sure and edit the RtKrondor.ini in the root directory for the following value, stretch=0 (if you don't already have it set that way.)

i was using windows defender, and this was a download through galaxy. when you verify something like on galaxy or steam it "checks" if all the files are there and if they have the factory defaults. if not, it replaces the select files with new fresh copies.

That's what I thought...but your post said you "deleted" (hopefully uninstalled properly) Galaxy...which you couldn't have used to verify if it was uninstalled. I only asked the question because of that...Again, sounds like something local on your end...hope you get it sorted...;)
