I have a problem that sometimes buildings are not being build. I have more then enough resources: enough workers (who are standing around doing nothing), enough serfs running around carrying things, and enough building materials. Somehow the serfs refuse to take the building materials to some of the building sites. I tried installing the unofficial patch to see if it would fix things, but unfortunately it did nothing. Has anybody encountered this problem too? Is there any way to resolve this?

If you have too many buildings that are still being built, there's a bug which causes serfs to completely stop ware delivery to the building sites. I don't know the exact number, but if you keep yourself to a maximum of three building sites that are connected with a road to your storehouse, you shouldn't have these problems.

Especially building sites that are not connected with a road are known to cause ware delivery problems.
Thanks for the reply! That would explain my problem. Guess I'll have to stick to the 3 building limit then.
In the tutorial, the game simply refuses to build the Woodcutter's Cottage, regardless of how many other buildings you have being built at the same time, how many Serfs you have, resources, and such.

I have tried this, and the bug triggers even if the Woodcutter's Cottage is the only building you have being built at that time.

Thus, marking this bug as solved is invalid - it is NOT solved. I do not know if it is limited just to the tutorial, but when I buy a game, any game, I expect it to be complete and working. Buggy games should not be Good Old Games.
I have never experienced such a bug. Have you tried deleting the woodcutter's foundation and placing it somewhere else?
I have the same problem now. This is the 9th map that I'm playing and the delivery to the new construction sites are stopped. There are 3 buildings waiting for the resources to be delivered at. I've tried destructing the buildings and rebuild them, still nothing. This problem is far from a solution.
I'm noticing the same problem

AI is retarded in this game.

Ai is retarded.

Something that kinda helps is to build a road near the site, workers always build roads first over everything,m once they are in the neighborhood they'll notice that there is something to be built there/delivered etc.

These workeres are just bumbs who like to play dumb, if thye can't see the job irght in front of them...then it must be break time.
It is simple.
If You have more than 2 building "sites" without road coming to them. no materials (wood /stone) will reach those sites for which You have roads already build !
So if You like to use large building sites as "trenches" or you have picked places for buildings and there is none already egzisting roads. Noone will take any material to them.

Yes, I also had this problem and it was not about how many building sities are ther, but how many unconnected sites. Haven't had the problem since.

Also be sure to check if the road isn't broken somewhere.
The other thing that you need to do is that you need to make sure the connected road goes UNDERNEATH the 'U' shaped part of the building. This is a fairly obvious point, but no one has mentioned it yet so I thought I might in case it the cause of your problem.
AI is not so silly, as game developer I can tell that having hundreds of units everyone moving on their own without any lag is a great achievement (in most games units move "grouped" so that only 1 path is needed, while here every unit has its own path). Just for example, in Caesar III units move randomly (no path at all oh yeah that's a "gameplay feature" still a great game, but not great pathfinding)

The building bug happened to me in early game when building 2 different structures. Seemed to be caused when serfs/workers move to build a piece of road that is too far away from a building (I think they just check into a limited range if there are works todo, doing that for unlimited range, so the whole map at every frame would be too expensive, yeah they should added a queue but probably they thinked that was not worth, keeping code simple can prevent future bugs, and this was a very good game for its time period, from a tecnical point of view), there's just the need of 1 serf that finish building road near a building without being called elsewhere to continue the construction. And keep in mind that buildling a road is prioritary, so once finished a road near a building they will move to another piece of road too far away)

Actually I have up to 80 among workers and serfs (20 always free without nothing to do) and I can build up to several buildings without any bug.

And anyway I requote kinkels, FIRST you have to create a road that create a valid path from existent road web and the building.

I 've run into this problem too. After restarting I somehow was able to get the Woodcutter's Cottage to build in the tutorial, but nothing I do in Mission 4 (Shattered Kingdom) will get it to build. I've demolished all other buildings, built the road first, tried different locations (including directly in front of the storehouse), built extra serfs and waited for several minutes (restarting every time) but they never do anything. Other buildings often don't get built either but usually trigger after demolishing, and I never order more than one building to be built at a time.
