Are there any? I am interested in this game (aah, nostalgia), but I have a quick question. In KQ8 - GoGgy style - can you raise the resolution up to 800x600, or is it limited to 640x480? Can the GoG version take advantage of the additional graphics options that I fuzzily remember when I first played this game?

Unfortunately no, the game has to run in 640x480 resolution in order to maintain compatibility with newer versions of Windows. You should be able to, tough, if you run it on a Windows 95/98 machine.

This game is a lot of fun, I finished it last week.
Actually, I just managed to get it up to 800 x 600 by using something called a Glide Wrapper... something like dosbox i believe, that emulates old 3Dfx-cards. http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/Glide_Wrapper. Check out the download-link to zeckensack's Glide Wrapper. The problem is only that the game slows down to an unbearable FPS for me... maybe because I've got such an old laptop... Would like to hear if it works for someone else though.
Yeap, I've been using Zeckensack's Glide Wrapper. I think everyone who plays this game should use it. Then you can use 3DFX with 800x600 resolution. If you haven't tried it yet, try turning off Dynamic Lighting. The game ran really slow and glitchy for me until I turned it off. Now it plays just fine.
