Does anyone else get distorted sounds (eg bird sounds in the very first screen) playing the new ScummVM release of KQ5? My old DosBox version doesn't have this problem for some reason.

The sound might need tweaking, it isn't too hard to find the settings.

You haven't said what sound settings you're using. SoundBlaster? MT-32? Are you choosing the DOS or Windows version of KQ5 when you set it up through ScummVM?

I just download the gog installer and install the game. I don't change anything. These are the default settings from kq5.ini:

[scummvm]
fullscreen=true
updates_check=0
lastselectedgame=kq5
versioninfo=2.0.0

[kq5]
description=King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder (CD/DOS/English)
savepath=c:\gog games\kings quest 5\saves
originalsaveload=false
prefer_digitalsfx=true
path=c:\gog games\kings quest 5
gameid=sci
native_fb01=false
language=en
gui_saveload_last_pos=0
platform=pc
kbdmouse_speed=3
guioptions=gameOption1 gameOption2 gameOption3 lang_English

I'll try to record the sounds and post it here.

OK, I managed to record the sound in both dosbox and scummvm. Have a listen:

ScummVM (BAD):

instaud.io/2xtw

DOSBox (GOOD):

instaud.io/2xtx
Yeah. I got this problem too. gog needs better QA on this stuff.

I should be able to install a game and have no problems.
