I bought The Legend and Space Rangers while they were on sale, the former because I thought the GOG version might not give me the problems the Steam one has been giving me. No matter what fixes I try, the furthest I can get is going to the first tutorial area - then the game crashes and all it gives me is this.

I'm on a GeForce Go 6100 on Windows 7, with 3 GB of ram. I've heard about the possible fix by dialing back drivers, but the one they use for that doesn't work on this card. Is there anything else that might solve this? No-one's been able to help me and I really want to play this game. Thanks.

Not sure if the following will help but it won't hurt to try...

Firstly, what is your default desktop resolution? I remember reading that there can be assorted problems and crashes with the game if not set at 1024x768.

Also have you got GeForce Experience installed? This also seems to cause a lot of problems so maybe you could uninstall this(via Control Panel) and see if that helps. You can always install it again if removing it doesn't help. Don't forget to reboot if you do uninstall before trying to play KB:TL.

And one last thing I've just thought of, have you installed the game away from the Program Files folder? If not, uninstall the game and then try installing in the C drawer (for example C:\Games) and then make sure you are running the game as administrator.

I hope one of these will help in solving the problem.

Hm, it looks like a rather generic access violation crash. Maybe there's a problem with an entry point in a linked library.
Make sure the older DirectX components are properly installed. Use this:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Run the file and extract it to a separate folder, then go there and start DXSETUP.exe for installation.
Afterwards run the DirectX Web installer, to check if the newer DirectX components are up-to-date and running:

As Pajama already said, also try running the game as administrator. Try doing so explicitly by right-clicking the game's shortcut and choose the run as an Administrator option.
None of that worked. It seems to happen when the game loads new areas, has anyone found an error like that before? I feel like I've tried everything. I even emailed the developers and they were no help at all.

I think I'm about ready to throw in the towel, thanks anyway for your suggestions fellas. From what I've heard there's plenty of other games in this genre to try instead.

Sorry nothing has helped thus far, hopefully we can come up with something that will work :)

Firstly, there are a few other suggestions here - http://www.gog.com/support/kings_bounty_the_legend/crashing_in_general that might help and if you get no joy there try sending off an email to support, they are usually quite good at fixing problems. Worth a shot :)

I really appreciate it, but at this point I'm just done with this game. The game won't tell me what's wrong, 1C won't give me any helpful advice, and I really don't feel like going through every possible solution just for a game that looks prettier than others in the genre when ones that actually work are readily available. I've played games with higher requirements just fine, and I got Space Rangers HD alongside it which has given me no problems whatsoever, so as far as I'm concerned this is all on The Legend at this point.

GOG isn't even the first store I bought it on, and I put in a ticket on Steam asking for a refund on it and the Platinum pack. Maybe I'll get it, maybe not, but either way this series has probably lost me even when I do get a new computer. Its a shame, but that's the breaks.

Again, thanks anyway, it is nice that you tried to help me. Sorry for ranting.
I'm having a crashing issue as well, the game crashes after I load a save and try to rotate the view, just crashes to desktop. This is new.

I bought the game a year ago, played it on and off over the last year and only today it starts crashing.

Only thing I did was install gogGalaxy and import the game into Galaxy and now it doesn't work.
