I downloaded the game this morning, but can't get it to start. I get the two developer/producer things and then the title screen, but once the gems line up the game stops with a call stack function error (0001:001741A3 & 0001:0011278B)

I'm running Windows Vista SP2 with an AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 for video, and have 8Gb memory and currently DirectX 11.

I've tried un and re-installing, rebooting, running with and without the supplied patch, and don't know what to do. I'm dumb. Never had any problems at all with any GOG game before, and the download and install (as usual!) went perfectly!

Never mind. On another forum I found a solution.

For some reason the installed game.ini file has setf ~screenresoultionx 0 and setf ~screenresoultiony 0. I manually changed them to 800 and 600 (after trying 1600x900 and 1024x768) and it worked! I had to load the options screen and save it with the correct resoution, which insisted on a restart, but although the values are each back to zero, so far it works.
Thanks for letting us know!

Bumping this because I had the same issue. Thanks!
I keep getting Call stack functions errors when starting KB Crossworld. I have installed latest DirectX and Dep exceptions and changing x and y resolution in the .ini file and adding a line of code in the ini file that was recommended over on steam and running as administrator for Windows XP and 7 and . And I'm still getting the same problem:
The game starts to load normally. It gets to where the gems circle around on the final screen. Then it goes to a black screen and an immovable hand/mouse cursor. I notice on the Windows task bar that at the same time it freezes, a second 'open application' icon suddenly pops up over the first 'open application' icon for the game. When I force close the game there is a Call stack functions error showing 2 call stacks for kb.exe.
I tried to attach a pic of the errors and double icon, but keep getting a notice from Gog saying wrong file format. Don't know what they're looking for, but I tried png and jpg to no avail.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

I solved my problem by completely deleting the game, downloading a new copy from Gog and reloading. No idea why this worked, but it did. Problem solved, thanks for looking.

Hi.
I have the same strange issue with the Gog goty edition; stranger than the first post because I played the first campaign 'till the end with no problem. I tried to start the second campaign (Champions of the Arena), received the error. Since then, when the game is going from initial screens to menù screen, the game hangs with the error described in the first post.
My system: Windows 10, Athlon II x4 850k, Geforce gtx 660.
Currently I'm downloading the game again, maybe I lost some upgrade. But the strangest thing is that I played successfully the game - first campaign, Armored Princess - until yesterday, I tried to start Champions of The Arena, got the error, and now the error is there, before I can choose the campaign.

Thank you.

Hi.
I found a solution in a steam forum (cannot put the link here).

I added the option "setf ~cl_menu3d 0" to both game.ini under king's bounty folder, directory "data" and under Documents\my games\King's Bounty Crossworlds.

Hope it helps.

Bye
